Saturdays radio address by the Activist in Chief was a prime example of the art of "distraction.”  In this address Obama states he has directed the Dept. of Interior, i.e. Bureau of Land Management (BLM), to speed up drilling in Alaska and it's wilderness with due protection for "safety and the environment.”  This all sounds well and good on face value until you realize that he has already put into process steps to hinder the very process he espouses.  Complicated?  Not really, when you consider he has already used executive order to override the failure of Cap and Trade in congress by directing the "super-agency" EPA to impose all the same rules and regulations that congress failed to enact.  He openly showed disregard and distain for the American legislative and separation of powers process by announcing to the public "fine....I'll just do it via Executive order then!” 

Although the BLM can expedite applications, they still need approval from the very anti-oil/petroleum EPA whose authority far outweighs the BLM and has begun to run amuck meddling and dictating to other government agencies.  Despite the fact that the IPCC "hockey stick" theory from the 90s has been totally discredited as bad or "sloppy" science, their research arm, the National Academy of Sciences has announced another call for scientists to produce papers again as late as last week again (I do subscribe to their newsletters) proving the existence of "man-made" global warming, despite all other evidence to the contrary.  This is science gone crazy as they completely ignore the proper scientific methods of research and Kuhn's rules for new paradigms, by asking for scientists to prove a pre-existing false premise instead of doing research and reporting actual findings with proper "peer review".  The only "scientists" that will submit again are the same cabal of greedy, grant seeking entrepreneurs that tried to impress us with the previously scandal-ridden theory that they refused to allow "peer review" for in the first place.  Peer review is a supposed requirement for "proper" scientific research and they spent more time trying to silence the dissenters within their ranks for 10 years than the amount of time they measured for the supposed climate change to begin with.  If I had  pulled a "stunt" like that during my PHD research, my committee, and mentor would have condemned me for  being unscientific and unprofessional.

I think Obama knows that asking the BLM to go against the EPA monster he has created would be like David facing off against Goliath.  The new Senators/representatives are trying their best to stop and rein in the out of control and highly disreputable scientists at EPA but were blocked from doing so in the last budget battle.  I am praying they will try again.  Unless they succeed soon the "monster" will become too massive and unwieldy for Obama to control and will completely destroy free enterprise and capitalism in this country.  In this modern era, Obama has depended upon the EPA to be his personal "brown shirts.”  By adding the phrases "with due protection for safety and the environment" deliberately he was really telling us all what he thought we wanted to hear.  Hollow words meant to calm the bleating sheep, since he has so little respect for the intelligence of the average American citizen.  He cannot take back his Department of the interior mentioning to reporters as an aside that in order to get Americans to drive less and use less gas we needed to have the price of gas higher than $5 a gallon.  Obama himself wants gas prices higher and that is why he will not open the reserves, nor will he allow more drilling, except off the coast of Brazil and "we will be their best customers.”  

He has openly declared war on the those terrible oil companies who by the way make the least in the way of a profit margin (i.e.6% NET) after reinvesting in new equipment and drilling when other companies are reasonably expected to be successful if they bring in 10% profit to their shareholders..  Oil companies such as Exxon/Mobile paid 26 Billion average with a "B" in taxes and DO NOT receive subsidies while Obama advisor G.E. CEO Jeffrey Immelt used offshore accounts to shelter any profits and actually received a "refund" for his company.  The so called 'subsidies" Obama wanted eliminated are the same Capital Investment expense write offs that chains like Wal-Mart and McDonalds get for opening new stores and reinvesting their profits.  These are the tax incentives given to oil companies to encourage more drilling by allowing them to write off Capital "Investments" such as purchasing new rigs and drilling exploratory holes etc. and accounting for losses such as "dry holes.”  They are not outright SUBSIDIES.  He is using his own oratory "sleight of hand" tricks again to convince the American Public that oil companies are receiving money from the federal government while it's the same old liberal/progressive thought process that "assumes" that any tax credits or refunds given to taxpayers whether corporate or individual was actually THEIR MONEY FIRST, and not vice versa.  The same misjudgment Obama and other progressives used in oratory trying to sell us on the idea that the tax "cuts" were actually a tax "expenditure" because it was supposed to be their money first. He wrote the proposed budget (that never materialized) with that money assumed to be coming in since it was going to expire 1 January.  The President was so confident that it was already "his" money that he instructed OPM to start deducting from federal employees at a "higher rate" the previous January.  He was that confident before the 2010 elections that those tax cuts would expire automatically and he would have his way without a fight.  Time has a way of changing things, doesn't it Mr. President?

The President obviously is counting on the fact that the average American voter who listens to his highly deceptive oratory will be distracted enough into thinking that Obama really means to allow more drilling after declaring outright "war" on the same industries he has vilified and placed under investigation.  This is the same as trying to convince us that El Paso, Juarez, and Tucson are three of the safest cities in the world.  A real "sleight of hand" trick for sure.  Unfortunately only he and a few of his Chicago mafia really believe what he said last Saturday, because FOR NOW unfortunately.....  He’s holding "all the cards.”
